Launch of the third national survey to create a regional map strengthening policies in favour of persons with disabilities.
Morocco has taken another major step forward in promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities. On January 21, 2026, the country officially launched the third national study on disability, aimed at collecting precise and detailed data on the state of disability and its geographical distribution at both national and regional levels.
This initiative, the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, the High Commission for Planning (HCP), the National Observatory for Human Development (ONDH), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), seeks to create a comprehensive database that will serve as a reference for developing public policies and development programs tailored to the needs of persons with disabilities.
The project mainly aims to identify the obstacles hindering the full participation of persons with disabilities in social, economic, and cultural life, as well as the barriers limiting their access to fundamental rights.
The ultimate goal is to produce a regional map of disability, enabling each region of the kingdom to have reliable tools for planning local and regional interventions. During the signing ceremony, officials emphasized the importance of this initiative in addressing existing gaps in statistical data, particularly regarding the situation of women with disabilities. The High Commission for Planning will ensure the methodological and scientific supervision of the study, guaranteeing that data collection meets international standards.
The results will allow public authorities to better guide public policy and develop programs suited to the specific needs of persons with disabilities across all aspects of daily life, economic, social, health-related, and administrative.
It should be noted that this third edition of the national study on disability marks a decisive step for Morocco in its commitment to strengthening social inclusion and improving the quality of life of people with disabilities.
